I began working for Chorley Vets in the summer of 2017 and have spent that time gaining experience of working with animals and gaining my qualification (with distinction) as a Veterinary Care Assistant.
I have since enrolled onto a Veterinary Nursing diploma which is a dream come true for me as I am obsessed with animals (particularly French Bull Dogs!)
I have 2 Frenchie’s at home called Prince and Shiloh who are the absolute loves of my life! I love to travel and have seen many amazing countries over the years, my favourite being Thailand!

I started working at Chorley Vets on a voluntary basis as work experience in 2016 while studying at Myerscough college. In 2018, I completed my Level 2 diploma in Animal Management and I was offered a position as a SVN and grabbed the opportunity with both hands! I have since enrolled at college to start my Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
My future aspirations are to qualify as an RVN and would love to take on a specialism.
At home, I have 2 Springer Spaniel crosses called Scooby and Casper.
Melissa Bell Level 3 Diploma Animal Management
Student Veterinary Nurse
I came to Chorley Vets on block placements to complete the practical aspect of my veterinary nursing degree with Myerscough college. I have settled in here well and been accepted by the team which makes my job even more enjoyable! I look forward to becoming employed on a full-time basis upon qualifying as an RVN.
I have many pets including 6 Guinea Pigs, 2 dogs, 3 horses, 2 hamsters, 4 terrapins and 6 african land snails! All my family have a huge love for animals and most of our animals are rescues.
In the future, I would like to consider a specialism and may even further my studies to become a Veterinary Surgeon.
Veterinary Care Assistant / Receptionist
I started working as an Assistant Manager for Brett’s Pets (our adjoining business) in 2014 and transferred to Chorley Vets in 2017 to pursue a career within veterinary care.
I love my job and love that every day brings something different. I am currently working towards my Veterinary Nurse Assistant qualification and once qualified; I wish to commence further training in Reception duties and customer care. I enjoy both aspects of my role as I enjoy the hands-on care with the patients in ward and enjoy liasing with and helping clients at Reception.
I live at home with my Fiance and have 2 cats called Tia and Smudge. We hand reared these kittens from 2 weeks old so they are our little fur babies!
Veterinary Care Assistant
I joined the team at Chorley Vets as a volunteer one day a week, fell in love with the job and decided this was the perfect career choice for me. I have always had a passion and love for animals and feel privileged to be a part of the Chorley Vets Team and to help in the care and welfare of all species. Coming to work every day to a job I absolutely love is a dream come true.
I’ve travelled the world for 10 years as a Assistant Cabin manager with a well-known airline and cared for many stray animals along the way providing food and water to them. I’ve also owned my own business providing Ofsted Registered Childcare while my children have been small which gave me great satisfaction being able to watch my children grow and develop.
I live at home with my husband and 2 beautiful daughters aged 9 and 7, a Cockerpoo called Bailey and 2 ginger cats called Sonny and Rocky.
Hopefully after gaining my Veterinary Nursing Assistant qualification over the next 12 months I can progress my career by training to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Keep your fingers crossed!
Amy Lee BSc (hons) Zoology, Msc Zoo Conservation Biology.
I came to work for Chorley Vets in April 2017 after gaining my qualifications in Zoological sciences.
My role as a receptionist here is an absolute joy. I get to spend one-to-one time with both clients and patients at the front of house. I pride myself on making my reception area as welcoming as possible for our more nervous guests!
I have worked in several practices before coming to work at Chorley Vets and have also spent 2 months volunteering with Primates in Africa! But here at Chorley is where I want to be!
I have previous experience of working with Learning Disabilities and with animals but started my new career within admin at Chorley Vets in May 2018.
My role includes managing finances and client accounts, liasing with charities and relevant companies and managing staff records, amongst other things.
I have had several pets over the years while my children were growing up, cats being my favourite. I don’t currently have any pets so enjoy petting the inpatients here!
